Your kids spend 4 to 7 hours every day at in school. Needless to say, most of your kids interaction is with his teachers and classmates. Hence, having good teachers is of utmost importance since teachers are big influencers in your kids life. But how would you know if your kids have good teachers?
It is ideal that parents or guardians, especially of preschool student, must talk to the teachers and get to know the teacher’s teaching style, approach to his individual students and how he manages his class. After a brief and meaningful interaction with the teachers in school, parents should be able to identify the following points.
- Teachers must be innovative in his teaching style to cater to different types of learners. Different learners have different levels of learning capacity. Some students may learn well through visuals, some through hearing, some through touching. Hence, a good teacher must have different strategies and innovative in his teaching styles.
- Teachers must be empathetic. Teachers must understand why some students are slacking off or why some are having poor academic performance. It would be nice if teachers would know the reason so as to properly help the students not just in his academics but also on how he handles life. As the adage goes, teachers are like the second parent of students.
- Teachers must be friendly. Although it can’t be helped if some teachers are strict, but it would be nice if teachers are a tad friendlier to their students. The foremost reason for this is for the students to warm up towards their teachers, which could make it easier for the students to be open with how they perceive the subject or even share their troubles and concerns.
- Good teachers know how to manage the classroom well. Classroom management is not just about knowing how to properly handle difficult students, but it also involves proper time management.
