GCA Celebrates 21st Foundation Day

Great Christian Academy held its 21st Foundation anniversary last February 27 and 28, 2018. With the theme ‘Send out workers into His harvestfield (Matthew 9:38)’, students, parents, and faculty celebrated the founding of GCA with amazing field demonstrations on the first day followed by sports exhibitions and awarding ceremony of the recently concluded sports fest on the second day. The event was properly executed and very organized, According to GCA parents.



First day programme opened with an Opening Prayer led by Trisha Joy Casison followed by the National Anthem conducted by Teacher Jestoni Leal. Dance Club members rendered an inspirational special number followed by a Taekwondo demonstration performance led by Coach Andres Bulay and a special number by Aksento music teachers and students.


The students showcased their talents and skills in various field demonstrations like the Mob Dance from Grade 7 Mark and Simon. Grade 6 Solomon students swayed to a cha cha tune while Grade 1 Abraham, Grade 2 Luke and Jeremiah, Grade 3 Daniel and Isaiah rendered freehand exercises. The little cuties from kinder and nursery also showcased their God given talent  in freehand exercises.



Grade 5 John and Grade 9 Peter and Paul performed an interpretative dance while Grade 4 James and ACE high school students danced to the beat of a modern dance. Grade 10 Elijah and Moses showcased their talent through a hip hop number while Grade 8 Matthew took a more cultural approach through a Masskara Festival inspired performance. Students of ACE, on the otherhand, went for a choir presentation. Grade 10 student Angelika Guillermo led the closing prayer to cap the day.


Second day festivities showcased the competitive side of the students through various sports activities. Students were able to learn the value of teamwork and discipline through  various Palaro like chess, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, and basketball. It  also highlighted a basketball exhibition match between Grades 6 to 10 and a volleyball game between selected ACE students from Grades 7 to 10.   


An awarding ceremony was also held on the second day for the games of table tennis, badminton and chess. Third place for badminton went to Grade 9 Drian Karl Ibay and Grade 10  Sherleen Barquilla, while Dweezyl Senson and Arewen Arenas from Grade 10 and 9, respectively, bagged second place. The coveted top price went to Grade 8 J.M. Wenceslao and Cassandra ‘KC’ De Guzman from ACE.



For table tennis, Manuel Leasiano and Bianca Alindao from Grades 9 and 7 won third place, while Joshua Bautista and Arnie Ren Ilagan from Grade 10 and ACE, respectively, won second place. Grade 10 Darrel Gordoncillo and Grade 8 Beah Gonzales won  first place.


Selected as Mythical 5 for Basketball were Uriel Payao (M.V.P), John Lorenz Formentera, Joshua Bautista, John Vincent Pancho, and Juan Carlos Morato while the Mythical 6 for Volleyball includes Eunique Jayd Manalo (M.V.P), Casandra de Guzman, Jullienne Arcilla, Shine Excelle Nario, Cieldine Verdaguer, and Zaiylle Danica Navarroza.



For chess, third place medals were given to Maria Inna Francesca Lorono, Alexander Arorong, and Cy Jeriel Britanico;  second place  to Aldushey M. De Lara, Sean Hendrix Marquex, and Chason Jethro Reyes while first place trophies were awarded to Claudio L. Lu, Mikala Seth B. Campos, and Rafael Dave S. Fusieran.
