GCA Celebrates 22nd Foundation Day with its Unity-themed Commemoration

Great Christian Academy (GCA) unites the whole campus to celebrate its 22nd Founding Anniversary last February 26, 27, 28, 2019.


With the theme “Unity in the Body of Christ,” students, parents, and the faculty celebrated GCA’s foundation day with anticipated student performances in the first day and sports exhibition on the second day followed by the awarding ceremony for the winners. Parents went to support and cheer on their children, and it’s a joyful celebration for everyone.


The program started with a prayer followed by the doxology performance of GCA Dance Club. A surprise performance by the GCA Band formally bought the festive atmosphere in the campus.


With their exemplary talents and skills, the students prepared a dance show that will entertain parents and esteemed guests. Students from Kinder and Grades 1-3 showcased their freehand exercises; Grade 4’s “Tagumpay Nating Lahat” by Lea Salonga Dance Number wowed the audience; Grade 5 reminded us of PBA with “Sige Lang” by Quest, and Grade 6 made the audience relaxed with their “One Day” by Matishayu performance. Meanwhile, Grades 7-10 prepared their own modern dance routines to welcome the guests as well.


GCA’s Foundation Week also featured the Quiz Bee for all Grade levels. Twenty questions from each subject were presented to all contestants on all grade levels. Questions are divided by difficulty, 5 questions are allotted for easy, average, difficult, and tie-breaker questions.


The last day of the celebration ignited the competitive spirit of the students through the sports fest. Students learned the value of teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline through various physical and mental activities like chess, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, and basketball.


And to honor and recognize the effort exerted by the students, an awarding ceremony was held after the celebration.


Grade 9 won the championship title in Basketball, with Grade 10 in 2nd Place, and Grade 8 with 3rd Place. The best players that belong to the Mythical 5 are as follows: DK Ibay, Dominic Canapi, Angelo Daleon, Isaac Torres, and Jerome Nave.


Students also displayed their skills in the team sport, Volleyball. Grade 10 won 3rd Place, Grade 9 achieved 2nd Place, while Grade 8 bagged the Champion title.


For badminton boys, JM Wenceslao won as Champion, followed by Jerome Nave (2nd Place) and 3rd (DK Ibay). For badminton girls, KC De Guzman was declared Champion, while Unique Manalo and Lovely Samson won 2nd and 3rd Place respectively. We’re seeing familiar names in the doubles category as well. Back on top is the pairing of KC De Guzman and DK Ibay, followed by 2nd Placers Rasheed Alimen and Shine Nario, and 3rd Placers Luisa Ramolete and Yuan Tolentino.



Table Tennis is also one of the most anticipated games at this festival. For doubles girls, Beah Gonzales and Kryshalley Pinlac won as champions followed by KC De Guzman and Unique Manalo (2nd Place), and Gabriel Longos and Bianca Alindao (3rd Place). For doubles boys, Manuel Icasiano and Carl Elago came out on top, while Adrian Molina and JL Bautista placed 2nd, and Angelo Daleon and Desmond Pelagio placed 3rd. Mixed doubles winners are Manuel Icasiano and Beah Gonzales, followed by KC De Guzman and Angelo Daleon on 2nd Place, and Kryshalley Pinlac and Christian Alacaraz on 3rd Place. Angelo Daleon and Beah Gonzales triumphed overall in the singles category. Adrian Molina and Carl Elago placed 2nd and 3rd on singles boys, while Kryshalley Pinlac and KC De Guzman also placed 2nd and 3rd in singles girls.



For the Table Tennis Elementary category, Vince Sinamban came out victorious, and Annica Duque and Timothy Sario came second and third.

In the Chess tournament, Sarah Tiu won champion in the battle of the minds, while Cy Britanico and Dave Fursieran placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.


GCA’s 22nd Foundation Day is not only filled with fun and exciting activites, but it’s also packed with energetic sports activities that spark sportsmanship and healthy competition within the studentry.
